What skills do I need?
The Board of Management carries considerable powers and responsibilities, but not all Board Members need to be professionals or experienced people. The Board is composed of a wide variety of people with different backgrounds within the community. Board Members will have to show a commitment to provide direction to Hexagon; hence tenants have an obvious interest in the work of the Association, including those working or living in supported housing and care schemes or in housing co-operatives.
Does Hexagon give training?
Yes, we offer an induction course for new Board Members and give the opportunity to attend all training courses arranged at Hexagon’s offices. In addition to this, you can attend National Federation courses specifically for Board Members. Hexagon also briefs Board Members on new legislation and internal workings at special seminars. Additionally, Board Members are invited to spend as much available time as they wish visiting the office and liasing on schemes to gain a wider knowledge of the Associations work, and meet the staff.
