Residents Day 2010

Hexagon Housing Association will be holding its fourth annual conference for residents on Saturday 25th September. This will give residents and service users the opportunity to discuss their views and feed back on the housing service. The event is known as “Residents Day” and is being held at Lewisham Town Hall in Catford from 12:30pm to 4.30pm.

As with last year’s event, the Residents Day will give residents the chance to speak directly to Hexagon senior staff and gather information from displays on a range of services provided by Hexagon and from partner agencies that will be in attendance on the day.

The theme of this year’s event will be Hexagon’s local offers to residents and there will be workshops on:

• Anti-social behaviour
• Building communities
• Hexagon Help
• Responsive Repairs
• Stock Improvement
• When I want to move

Last year 70 people attended a really lively and enjoyable event. The feedback from those who attended was extremely positive and has helped to shape this year’s event.

The day will see something for all the family. While the adults are engaging with Hexagon staff on the housing service, at the same time there will be:

• Activities for 12-19 year olds – provided by P.Y.E (Positive Youth
Experience) giving lessons in: Music production. DJing, lyric writing, performance skills, photography, film making and video production.
• Theatre production with The Albany (Deptford)

Children are also welcome to attend, and this year there will be:

• Activities for 5-11 year olds – provided by Jactito, where children will
participate in mask making and will see a fantastic puppet show of “The Very Ugly Ducking”
• Crèche for under 5’s with ‘Kids and Play’
• Face painting with ‘Tumshies’

so make sure that your children are part of these activities by booking their place by 17th September.
Other activities taking place on the day include DIY tips as demonstrated by the Hexagon Repairs Team as well as flower arranging demonstrations.

At the end of the event there will be an exciting prize draw for residents where the 1st prize will be a 22” wide screen TV; 2nd prize a Nintendo DSi XL games console; and 3rd prize a microwave oven. There will also be extra prizes of shopping vouchers for lucky residents

A free buffet lunch will also be provided on arrival as well as refreshments throughout the afternoon.
All Hexagon residents and service users are invited to attend. Entry to the Residents Day will be by ticket only and places are limited. Tickets are free and can be obtained by contacting the Resident Involvement Team on 020 8768 7970 or at getinvolved@hexagon.org.uk by Friday 17th September.
