Going digital - are you ready?

All residents should be aware by now that, starting 4th April 2012, the Government intends to switch off the existing analogue TV signals in the London TV region and to replace it with digital TV signals. Hexagon has taken steps to ensure that all its properties served by a communal TV aerial can continue to receive TV services after the switchover.

If you have a satellite or cable service, you will not need to do anything once the switchover has taken place.

If you have a Freeview service, Top Up TV or BT Vision, you may need to re-tune your digital TV or box or you will lose TV channels at switchover.

Some channels may move to new frequencies, which mean you may find some of your channels are missing. Re-tuning will bring them back.

Digital UK logoIf you have any problems re-tuning your TV or digital box, you can get help from a number of websites like www.digitaluk.co.uk/retuning where you will be guided through the process.

Digital switchover is a two stage process; you will need to re-tune your equipment, Stage 1: on 4th April and at Stage 2 on 18th April.

Help Scheme
Those residents who are responsible for the upkeep of their own aerial may qualify for the Help Scheme; a new aerial can be supplied (if necessary) and fitted by the Help Scheme.

Help is also available for those residents who are aged 75 or over, living in a care home for six months or more, or who get (or could get) certain disability benefits, or those who are registered blind or partially sighted. The Help Scheme will write to everyone eligible for the scheme and to take up the option, anyone who receives the mailing needs to reply. For more information, call free on 0800 40 85 900 or visit www.helpscheme.co.uk.
