Tenants and Residents Associations

Resident’s Associations can work for you

There are a number of Residents Associations which work in partnership with Hexagon on local or estates-based issues. The Associations work to get  continual improvements in the housing service at the local level.  Here are some details on how and why setting up a Resident’s Association can work for your community.

What is a Resident’s Association?

A Resident's Association is a group of people who live in the same area, who work together to represent the views of all resident’s in their catchment area to help make their neighbourhood a better place to live.

Who can set up a Resident’s Association?

Any group of three or more people can set up an association.  You could live in the same street, or the same block or in the same housing estate.

Why set up a Resident’s Association?

  1. To form a collective voice:
Working with others to deal with issues gives a greater chance of the issues being resolved.  For example: when working with Hexagon the Association can tackle issues such as anti social behaviour, housing improvements, the repairs service and maintenance and environmental issues.
  2. To raise community spirit:
Many Associations organise social events such as parties, fundays etc.
  3. Filling the gaps
Many Associations work to get improved or much-needed facilities to their area such as an environmental improvement, or activities for children and young people.

Setting up a resident’s Association is all about raising the quality of life in the community.
