Introduction

This fact sheet will give a comprehensive guide as to what you can expect if you become a Tenant Board Member, and what Hexagon will expect from you.

It will take you through the things you should be asking Hexagon before you commit to being a Board Member, and the process and support Hexagon will give you to undertake your role.

You will find being a Board Member is a challenging and rewarding role, helping to provide good quality landlord services and create new homes.

Background of Board Membership

As a non – profit making organisation following the rules of a Friendly Society and Charity, the Association is answerable to its membership.

Hexagon tenants elect the Tenant Board Members who comprise of one third of Hexagon’s Board.  The rest of the Board Members are elected at the Annual General Meeting to which all shareholders are invited.  The Board has a maximum of 15 members who will manage the Association on behalf of the shareholders and tenants during the year.  Each year one third of Board Members have to resign – although they may stand for re-election.
