Last month our Resident Involvement team hosted the tenth annual Residents’ Co-Op Seminar at Goldsmiths, University of London.
This was an opportunity for our residents who live in properties that are managed by Co-Ops to network and meet with Hexagon staff.
32 Co-Op residents attended the event on 25 April, an excellent turnout compared to last year.
Rumana Khair presented ‘Keeping you safe in your home’ which focused on the recent tragedy at Grenfell Tower and provided information on the things residents need to do to prevent fire and other risks in the home, and additionally the things Hexagon are doing to ensure residents are kept safe in their homes.
This was followed by a question and answer session led by panel members:
- Andrew Green (Housing Services Director)
- Rumana Khair (Stock Improvement Manager) and
- Brian Hughes (Resident Involvement Manager)
This session highlighted a few key issues and common themes that Hexagon needs to investigate, resolve and improve.
Co-Op members communicated that they valued the opportunity to feedback directly to the people who can make these changes at Hexagon.
In a departure from previous years, the team provided information stalls at the event, these were welcomed.
These were stalls focusing on:
- Getting back into employment
- Money advice
Attendees felt that the stalls were interesting and well-presented and offered valuable useful advice. It’s hoped more information stalls will feature at future events.
Overall feedback on the event was good with one resident saying “The annual conference is a great opportunity to meet staff and keep up to date with useful information”
The Resident Involvement team were delighted to host an informative and interactive seminar which helps to enhance our residents’ abilities in managing their own day-to-day services in their housing Co-Ops.
