Sub-letting

Sub-letting means letting out your home while you live elsewhere.

If you are a shared owner, your lease does not permit sub-letting. This is because shared ownership is intended as an affordable first step towards home ownership and not an opportunity to let the property out.

Hexagon will take legal action against shared owners who sub-let their homes.

If you own 100% of the equity in your home you may be able to sub-let your property. You should contact us before you do so, to ask for permission and we will advise you about any particular requirements and conditions.

This is just general guidance on the question of sub-letting. For more information you should refer to your lease or seek legal advice.
