Registered Care Services

Hexagon manages two registered care homes, and the services provided are reviewed by the Care Quality Commission. These are Kirkwood Road in Southwark and Woodcote Road in Sutton. These services provide intensive rehabilitation for people with complex mental health needs.

The residents have often had unsuccessful community placements or extended periods of time in hospital, and the staff team of psychiatric nurses and support workers work closely with the residents and the local Community Mental Health Teams.

Using the Recovery Model, the aim is for residents to develop confidence, improve daily living skills and move on to lower support after about two years.  Most residents take up activities outside the home, with some achieving success in training courses and part-time work.

Team Leaders (Registered Mental Health Nurses) and Support Workers provide individual rehabilitation programmes that are agreed with residents. The Recovery Model underpins our work, which aims to fulfill individuals’ hopes and aspirations through:

  • Empowerment, self-esteem and confidence-building.
  • Meaningful activities, such as training, education, volunteering and work.
  • Taking control of medication and treatment.
  • Developing activities related to daily living.
  • Emotional and physical support.

99 Kirkwood Road
Kirkwood Road provides rehabilitation for people with high support mental health needs within a safe and supported environment. Placements are for approximately 2 years. The service has 24-hour onsite staff; and all residents have a named key-worker and co-worker who guide the team through the process of providing truly person centred interventions for each resident.

The service is provided using the principles of the Recovery Model, with the guiding principle of hope and the belief that it is possible to have a meaningful life despite living with a serious mental illness.  Recovery is a voyage of self-discovery and personal growth, and experiences of mental illness provide opportunities for change, reflection, discovery of new values, skills and interests.

24 hour support is provided from 8 am – 9 pm by a team of 12 staff employed by Hexagon (qualified/ trained in supporting people with mental health difficulties); and from 9 pm – 8 am by the CAYSH Concierge Service who provide support and security for residents during the night. When contacting the service your queries will be dealt with by either a member of the day support team,  or a Concierge Officer covering the location during the night.
